May our differences unite, not separate us

Platform
Peace
- The wars are devastating our economy and society.
- Stop empowering radical Muslim politicians.
- Cease-fire, negotiations, bring troops home promptly.
- End US military imperialism.
- No war with Iran
- Build friendships with trade and investment.
Military
-
I support our Armed Forces 100%. We have the best Armed Forces in the world.
-
The military isn't the problem; the politicians are the problem.
Government
- Jeffersonian democracy: no government should be so big that it precludes personal interaction between officials and citizens.
- Affirm states' rights, reduce federal government, decentralize government.
- Term limits: two terms for Senators, three for members of Congress
- Lobbying and campaign finance reform
- Redistricting reform; move towards proportional representation or similar innovations
Health Care
- The real problem is health, not health care; we are becoming a nation of invalids.
- Get serious about prevention.
- Address obesity and motivate tobacco cessation to cut health care costs in half.
- Catastrophic coverage for all Americans; minor office visits fee-for-service
- Create/maintain climate that lets health care practitioners enjoy their work.
Immigration
- Immigration is good, but must be approached with common sense.
- Have fair rules, clearly explained.
- Assist immigrants (advice and offices) who are seeking to comply with laws.
- Immigrants should learn English and respect host country.
Drug War
- The drug war hasn't worked.
- Demand reduction does work; trust children's natural desire to learn and thrive.
- Support positive activities for children -- clubs, sports, etc.
- For better or worse, cannabis is here to stay; by decriminalizing it society can begin to develop
cultural mechanisms to prevent abuse.
- End SWAT raids on ordinary citizens.
Economic
Education
- End outrageous college tuition prices.
-
School vouchers -- let parents choose private or public schools, or reimburse
for home schooling.
Gay Issues
- The dignity of each person must be honored.
- I agree with the libertarian principle that marriage -- homosexual or heterosexual -- is not a government
concern; intelligent and well-motivated debate about the nature of marriage benefits everyone.
- God loves 'gays' and 'straights' alike.
2nd Amendment
-
I am more afraid of our government than of armed citizens.
Work
- "Redeemed corporations" -- worker friendly companies.
- Involve employees more in management decisions.
- Move towards 32-hour work week.
