John Uebersax for Congress 2010 California's 22nd Congressional District Paso Robles - Atascadero - San Luis Obispo - Lancaster - Bakersfield |
August 25, 2010
Please excuse the website being under construction.
I am launching a 'write-in' candidacy for California's 22nd Congressional District, to challenge the incumbent who is running unopposed.
Content will be added shortly, hopefully in a matter of days.
This will be a formal candidacy, registered with election officials. Any vote for me will be counted, and with enough votes, I could win the election. Note this is not true of write-in candidates who are not formally registered.
The main feature of my platform is peace: to end the war in Afghanistan, and more generally to put an end to American military imperialism -- for our own sake, and for the sake of people around the world.
I am by no means politically ambitious -- merely a citizen tired of seeing what's become of our country. I cannot stand idly by and allow an election to occur in which war -- the most important policy issue in America -- is not actively discussed and debated. My candidacy supplies citizens in the 22nd district the option to vote against war, and against the political machine.
I emphatically reject the false dichotomies of Democrat vs. Republican and Liberal vs. Conservative. These divisions have been used to control the American public through fear and mistrust. It's high time we looked upon all Americans of good will as friends and fellow citizens. Common sense alone says that we cannot succeed as long as half the population is fighting the other half.
